Journalists’ and Social Media Influencers’ follow-up workshops
Rwanda NGOs Forum on AIDS and Health Promotion under Solutions for supporting Healthy Adolescents and Rights Protection (SHARP) program, funded by EU International Partnerships and Health Action International, held Journalists’ and Social Media Influencers’ follow-up workshops respectively on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (#ASRHR) advocacy. These workshops aimed to review the progress of previous action plans while strengthening advocacy efforts and enhancing media engagement around #ASRHR issues. They built on earlier efforts to ensure that every Rwandan of reproductive age can access quality sexual and reproductive health (#SRH) services, empowering adolescents to make informed decisions about their reproductive health. During the workshops, participants evaluated the implementation status of earlier action plans, identifying successes, challenges and areas requiring improvement. The discussions also focused on addressing gaps in media and social media coverage on #ASRHR and developing innovative strategies to increase visibility and advocacy for these issues. Enhancing the participants' advocacy skills in disseminating accurate and effective #ASRHR messages was a key objective of the events. The workshops also emphasized the importance of refining action plans to include measurable outcomes, updated strategies and timelines to improve media engagement. Journalists and influencers left with a clearer understanding of how to better advocate for #ASRHR and engage their respective audiences on these critical issues. By fostering collaboration and strengthening communication strategies, the activities empowered participants to continue pushing for necessary changes in adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights. This proactive approach will ensure more effective advocacy and a greater impact on promoting #ASRHR in #Rwanda .
