Mother-Child Health (MCH) week
Rwanda NGOs Forum on AIDS and Health Promotion joined the Rwanda Health and Rwanda Biomedical Center to the Mother-Child Health (MCH) week where it’s supervising the deworming activities in Bugesera and Ruhango districts. This initiative is aligned with IoT interventions aimed to administer Mebendazole to children aged 12-59 months and Albendazole to individuals aged 16 years and above; Vitamin A supplementation, Promoting Handwashing sanitation; and safe water practices to reduce waterborne diseases. Various visited sites, include schools and health centers from different sectors of the 2 mentioned district. As of today, ⏩️ They are no Observed stock-outs of any medicines ⏩️ Medicines are being delivered to People with Disabilities who are not able to access the sites (Social Inclusion and health for all) ⏩️ Students showed a very high participation with no reported side effects of the medicines Key points that need strong efforts and collaboration: ✳️ Ensuring consistent availability of medicines to all the sites ✳️ Increase awareness campaigns targeting parents or care givers of children aged 6-23 months to make they do not miss to access the deworming healthcare service ✳️ Strong engagement of CSOs, local leaders and Community Health Workers in community mobilization and awareness is very key
